Violence, second in Saturday’s Fountain of Youth, has suffered an injury and is off the Kentucky Derby trail.
Violence sustained a medial sesamoid fracture, detected after the race. He is resting comfortably, per a press release sent early Sunday.
“It’s such a disappointment to see such a promising colt sustain an injury,” trainer Todd Pletcher said. “He’s been training beautifully and made such an impressive effort in his second place finish yesterday.”
Violence, a son of Medaglia d’Oro owned by Black Rock Stables, was 3 of 4 and earned a total of $623,000.
