Point of Entry, who had surgery for a condylar fracture in his left hind cannon bone after his win in the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap in June, is steadily working his way back.
Trainer Shug McGaughey said in a national teleconference Tuesday that the 5-year-old son of Dynaformer galloped a mile in Ocala for the first time since the injury. McGaughey said he saw video of the gallop and was “very pleased.”
McGaughey said Point of Entry remains on track to return to the Breeders’ Cup in November at Santa Anita.
Point of Entry had won seven of his last eight races before being sidelined. The lone loss during that streak was a runner-up finish to Little Mike in the Breeders’ Cup Turf last year.
