Honor Code, last year’s Remsen winner who was second in an allowance in his 3-year-old debut on March 12, is off the Kentucky Derby trail after an injury was discovered Sunday morning, as reported by the Daily Racing Form and the New York Daily News.
Here’s more from Jerry Bossert of the New York Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/theraces/2014/03/honor-code-to-miss-the-kentucky-derby-0
It’s been a tough Derby trail for trainer Shug McGaughey, who won last year’s Derby with Orb. Top Billing, a promising son of Curlin, will also miss the Derby because of an injury.
Honor Code is from the last crop of sire A.P. Indy, who has had a stellar career as a sire but never registered a Kentucky Derby winner.
